Three presidential front-runners in Cyprus get 30% each

The three front-runners for the presidential post in the Republic of Cyprus get 30% of the votes each, the Greek Eleftherotypia comments.

The presidential elections are due on February 17th.

The main contestants are the running President Tasos Papadopoulos, President of the House of Representatives (Cypriot Parliament) Dimitris Christofias, and Member of the European Parliament Ioannis Kasoulides.

The opinion polls show that the three stand equal chances to reach the second round. It is only Papadopoulos who has a narrow lead over the rest.

For now the election campaign is running smoothly despite the severe disagreements on the Cyprus issue, economy, and others
